Brown Girls | Back to School Photos
I have been photographing this family since before these girls were even born. Their parents’ wedding was one of the first weddings that I ever photographed and remains my only traditional Navajo ceremony in a hogan. It was really cool. I am the typical, white girl who has very few traditions so, it was really amazing to be a part of. And since then, I have been photographing their growing and adorable family.
But first, a story:
So, I am sure that I tell this story all the time. But, if you are new to the blog, I will tell it again. I went to school with Heather and Keldon. Keldon was cousins, I think, with my friend Torrey. All the girls I hung out with loved Torrey. Like, there may have been some fights with a few girls about him. Anyway, we decided to throw Torrey a surprise party but, at his house. I am not sure how we thought was a good idea. But, we did.
Anyway, we realized that were way too many girls and no boys at poor Torrey’s party so someone conned Keldon into joining us. He was totally chill and hung out, all the way up to when we started the cake on fire. Really, that happened.
Once the cake went up Keldon was like, I have to go check on the sheep and left Torrey to five girls with lighters. LOL It is like, one of my favorite memories of Keldon. He totally booked it out of there. I don’t even think he tasted what was left of our cake. hahaha. Even as I type I am laughing again. Poor Torrey.
Back to the photos:
But, onto the photos. They are adorable, these girls are adorable. I haven’t done back to school photos in a few years but, after some requests I consented again. It was totally worth it. This session turned it more of a sister session but, I am glad it did. These girls will soon have a brother amongst them so, now is the time to celebrate sisters. These will be close to their last photos with only girls.
